Fundraisers face ethical decisions in many aspects of their work. This program will deconstruct the ethics in fundraising and discuss why it’s important for us all to understand that these are ‘words to write by’. This program is an opportunity to detail the ways in which professional fundraisers face ethical decisions. Case examples and best practices will guide a lively and interactive discussion on an often misunderstood topic. The program will review: GPA Member 'Oath', Standards of Professional Practices, Client Choice Confidentiality, Contracts and Compensation.

The learning objectives to be achieved in the program are aligned with the GPC Core Competencies in the areas of ethical and professional best practices, and are as follows:
- Increased understanding of how to work consistently with a professional ethical mindset
- Increased understanding of how to adopt ethical standards and practices that raise the level of professionalism
- Increased understanding of how to align with the ‘right’ client at the ‘right’ time
-Increased understanding of how to ensure confidentiality in grant work, for an employer or client, and others
- Increased understanding of how to maintain a legally binding contract that benefits both parties equally and ethically
-Increased understanding of how to guarantee fair and ethical compensation
