Learn how to calculate key metrics from your existing financial statements, translate the metrics into an interesting story about your numbers, and make a greater impact. This is NOT a technical session on accounting or audits or line items on the 990. This is a big picture overview to helping leaders understand their organization's financial health and how to talk about it with stakeholders - board, staff, volunteers, donors, constituents, the general public, etc. Everyone will understand key metrics and takeaways that they can glean from their organization's basic financial statements. They'll understand how to translate these metrics into an interesting story and the who/when/how/what to share about your numbers. This is a practical yet inspirational session for busy leaders who need to tell the story of their numbers but have a hard time translating a spreadsheet into words.
Leaders will learn:
1. How to ensure an organization is ready for funding by assessing their own financial health (GPC Competency #2)
2. How to use financial metrics and data to enhance grant applications by telling a more robust story about their financial health (GPC Competency #4)
3. Best practices for tracking and reporting on grants (GPC Competency #5)
