As data becomes increasingly important, nonprofits that can effectively use data in their grant proposals are at an advantage. This could potentially put organizations that work with communities who have been historically marginalized at an even greater disadvantage. During this interactive session we will 1) discuss challenges related to data collection, 2) review and test less intrusive methods, as well as 3) explore what to do when data is simply not available. You will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to engage marginalized groups to collect data and how to advocate for causes when the data is simply not available.

The presentation will be conducted by K. Scott Nelson, a grant writer and fundraising consultant (and GPA LA member!) who is passionate about generating and building access to resources in underrepresented parts of the LGBTQ community and Michelle Molina, an evaluation consultant with expertise in social research methodology.

This workshop has been registered and approved by both the Grant Professionals Certification (GPC) and the Certified Fund Raising Executives International (CFRE) for 1.5 continuing education points that can be used towards initial certification and re-certification for GPC and CFRE credentials.

Pricing: Free for chapter members, $5 for everyone else. GPA members should contact Elana Helgensen for promo code.  Register at the link up above.
