GPA Grant News Seeks New Leadership

The GPA Publications Committee seeks to identify a new editor and associate editor for the weekly GPA Grant News to provide editorial support to the authors, GPA staff, and committee. The GPA Publications Committee offers a chance for professional growth, and our work is both challenging and satisfying. If you have strong editorial skills and a desire to serve as a leader for this publication, please read the following descriptions:

Editor:
The online GPA Grant News is published weekly for members of the Grant Professionals Association. The editor serves on the Publications Committee, works with GPA staff to develop the annual calendar of articles, works with authors, and liaises with GPA headquarters staff to facilitate the weekly e-newsletter. This volunteer position requires approximately 10 hours a week, with more intensive attention at times. In addition to editing experience, the editor must have excellent time-management, people management, and communication skills. Editing (of articles and the e-newsletter) is one of the responsibilities of this position, so knowledge of grammar and syntax is required.

Associate Editor:
The GPA Grant News seeks a volunteer Associate Editor, who will support the editor’s work with authors and GPA headquarters staff to publish the weekly e-newsletter. This volunteer position requires  5-10 hours a week, with more intensive attention at times. In addition to editing experience, the associate editor must have strong time-management, people management, and communication skills. Editing of articles is one of the responsibilities of this position, so knowledge of grammar and syntax is required.

The selection process will include a screening interview, an interview with members of the publications committee, and an editing exercise. We are a friendly group, so don’t let the process intimidate you. We enjoy working as a team to make the GPA publications as supportive and beneficial as possible to our readers.

The application process is now open and will remain open until 9/30/2017. A decision will be made by the time of the annual conference, which begins 11/7/2017. Both positions will begin 1/1/2018. The new editor and associate editor will benefit from guidance from the GPA headquarters staff, current editor and other members of the publications committee.
