Welcome to Chicago!

Below are a few tips for enjoying the GPA Conference.

Most conference participants wear casual business attire for day and evening events.

Autumn weather in Chicago is chilly
November Average Temperatures
Highs - 49-55 degrees

Chicago does have an underground walkway called the Pedway system. Here is a map from the city and stores/restaurants in the area near the Swissotel.

Exhibit Hall
GPA's Exhibit Hall features products and services that can help you succeed in the grants profession. Make sure to bring plenty of business cards and stop by and visit all of the exhibit booths. For 2018, be sure to complete our Exhibitor Bingo to be put in the drawing for some great prizes!

First Timers
GPA welcomes individuals who are either new to grant writing or attending the Annual Conference for the first time. Special programs such as the First Timers Webinar offered two weeks before the conference (watch for an email) and the Conference Navigators program, introduces newcomers to GPA and to the Annual Conference.

The Annual Conference is an exceptional venue for peer networking, exchanging best practices and tips, and making life-long friendships. We offer a Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening as well as discussion style workshops and all meals are geared specifically toward networking with other attendees. Bring your business cards and be ready to mingle.

Optional Activities -
Each evening of the conference there are optional events offered. On Wednesday evening after the Welcome Reception, there is a Social Media Reception where you can learn more about using social media tools as well as meet those you only know online! Thursday evening our affiliate, the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI) hold their annual reception. We will also be hosting a Chapter Reception where you can come learn more about chapter in your area or how to start one. It iss also the evening we encourage our chapters to host an evening event for their chapter members and potential members. Friday evening is an open evening to explore Chicago. Representative of the Chicago chapter will be offering different options on things to do so check out the Hospitality Table to join in!
