Time: 11:30 AM  CST - 1:00 PM  CST

The SETC GPA is pleased to kick off the 2019-2020 year with one of our chapter's founding members as a presenter: Gayla Rawlinson-Maynard. Gayla's session, entitled "Grant Writing Best Practices," will provide tools and techniques to help the grant specialist assess the success of their habits and skills.  Learn how to avoid common mistakes, enhance your writing and formatting skills, implement an effective review and editing process, determine what the reviewers want to see, and get that quality proposal submitted on time.

Gayla serves as Director of the Center for Grants Development division with the  Harris County Department of Education (HCDE). She is a nationally Certified Grants Professional (GPC) with over 20 years' experience. Her grant work has ranged from foundation and corporate sponsorship proposals to large collaborative government grants.  Gayla has coordinated proposal development processes, bringing in over $165 million to the greater Houston area. Before coming to HCDE as its first grants specialist, Gayla worked at the University of Houston as the Program Manager of The Funding Source, and as an adjunct professor.

Gayla has a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master's degree in Sociology/Social Research from Sam Houston State University.
